Full mouth reconstruction, also called full mouth rehabilitation, is the process of restoring most or all of the teeth in both jaws under one coordinated treatment plan. It combines restorative dentistry with implants, crowns and bridges, and, where a whole arch is failing, with fixed full-arch restorations.
It is a functional treatment as much as a cosmetic one. Teeth that are worn flat, broken or missing change how the jaw closes, how the muscles work and how the lower face is supported. Rebuilding them means restoring the bite to a stable position first, then restoring the teeth to it.
Every case is planned from records: a 3D CBCT scan, digital scans of both arches, photographs and a bite analysis. Depending on what those records show, the plan may include dental implants for individual gaps, All-on-4 full-arch implants for an arch that cannot be saved, crowns for the teeth that can be saved, and general dentistry to treat decay and gum disease before rebuilding starts.
Four things patients get back.
When teeth wear down or go missing, the jaw closes further than it should and the remaining teeth take more force than they were built for. Rebuilding to a stable bite spreads the load evenly again, which protects the restorations and often relieves the muscle soreness that came with the old bite.
Chewing is the first thing patients lose and the first thing they notice coming back. Fixed restorations and implant-supported teeth let you eat a normal diet again, rather than choosing food by what your mouth can manage that day.
Missing teeth allow the jawbone to shrink, which shortens the lower face and deepens the lines around the mouth. Implants stimulate bone the way natural roots did, and restoring the height of the bite gives the lips and cheeks their support back.
Treating a failing mouth one emergency at a time usually costs more and rarely ends well. A reconstruction sequences the work, treating infection first, then the foundation, then the final restorations, so each stage is built on the one before it and you know what is coming.

Full mouth reconstruction is for patients whose problems are no longer isolated to one or two teeth. If several teeth are broken, missing, heavily worn or failing at the same time, treating them individually usually means starting over within a few years.

Not every mouth needs a full rebuild. If the damage is limited to the front teeth, cosmetic dentistry may be enough, and if a single arch is failing while the other is sound, a full-arch implant restoration of that arch may be the whole plan. We will tell you which of those you are looking at.
Health matters too. Gum disease, uncontrolled diabetes and heavy smoking all affect healing and are addressed before restorative work begins. Dr. Bui reviews your scan, your bite and your medical history, then gives you a staged plan with the sequence, the timeline and the cost written down.
What drives the price, and how it is staged.
No two reconstructions cost the same, because no two mouths need the same work. The total depends on how many teeth are being restored, how many implants are needed, whether extractions, grafting or gum treatment come first, and which materials the final restorations are made from.

Reconstructions that keep natural teeth are quoted by stage. Insurance often covers part of the restorative work, such as crowns, extractions and gum treatment, even when it does not cover cosmetic refinements, and we check your benefits before treatment. Because the work is staged, it can often be spread over time in a clinically sensible order rather than all at once.

The first visit is diagnostic. We take digital X-rays, a CBCT scan, digital scans of both arches and photographs, then analyse how your jaw closes. From those records, Dr. Bui builds a staged plan and reviews it with you: what is being saved, what is being replaced, in what order, and what each stage costs.

Nothing is rebuilt on an unhealthy foundation. Decay and gum disease are treated first, hopeless teeth are removed, and implants or grafts are placed where the plan calls for them, with IV sedation available for longer appointments. You wear temporary restorations through this stage, so you are never left without teeth.

Once healing is complete, the final crowns, bridges and implant restorations are made in our in-house lab and fitted to the bite established by the temporaries. We adjust, review you once everything has settled, and fit a night guard to protect the work, because grinding is the most common reason a reconstruction fails early.
Surgery, sedation and the laboratory in one practice.
A reconstruction touches surgery, restorative dentistry, sedation and laboratory work. Split across separate offices, that is where plans stall and where accountability for the finished bite gets lost. At Glo Dental Studio the implants, the restorations, the sedation and the final zirconia work all happen in-house, with a dedicated dental laboratory on site.

Answers to the questions patients ask before starting a rebuild.
It depends on the plan. Where a failing arch is replaced with fixed implant teeth, you leave the surgical appointment with a temporary arch the same day and receive the final zirconia bridge once healing is complete. Reconstructions that keep and restore natural teeth are staged over a longer period, because gum treatment, extractions and implant healing each need time. You get the sequence and the timeline in writing at your consultation.
It varies with the work involved: the number of teeth restored, the number of implants, whether extractions, grafting or gum treatment are needed, and the materials chosen. Most of the work is done under local anaesthetic, and IV sedation is available for surgical or longer appointments, which many patients sleep through. Afterwards, swelling and soreness for a few days are normal and are managed with the medication and instructions we provide. You are not left without teeth: temporaries carry you through each stage.
In most cases, no. Fixed temporaries or an implant-supported temporary arch are used wherever the plan allows, so you keep teeth that stay in. A removable temporary is only used when the clinical situation requires it, and we tell you in advance if your case is one of those.
A smile makeover is elective and mostly cosmetic: it changes how the visible teeth look. A reconstruction is driven by function, because teeth are broken, missing or worn to the point that the bite no longer works, and the plan rebuilds it. The two overlap, since a rebuilt mouth is designed to look right as well, but the starting point is different.
